Boxing Odds – Cotto Aims For Revenge Against Margarito

Even WWE Raw fans will remember the classic boxing slugfest in July 2008 between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, which Margarito took after an 11th-round TKO, but there were suspicions that he may have wrapped his hands with plaster. The two meet for a rematch at Madison Square Garden in December, and Cotto will not only aim to keep his WBA Light Middleweight Super Championship, but to avenge that beating from 2008.

Cotto Margarito Odds – December 3rd, 10:00 PM ET

Cotto (36-2, 29 KOs) bounced back from his KO loss at the hands of Manny Pacquiao by moving up a class and knocking out Yuri Foreman and Ricardo Mayorga, but some say he hasn’t looked the same since the first Margarito fight. But cost per head players will still give him an edge as the fight is in New York, where he is 7-0, including 6-0 at MSG.

Margarito (38-7, 1 NC, 27 KOs) is fighting for the first time since his own awful loss to Pacquiao, and he has dropped two of his last three fights. He suffered a severe eye injury against the pound-for-pound king, so it’ll be interested to see how he recovers from that. Margarito was found with hand wraps in his first fight following his Cotto win, against Shane Mosley, and many think he was wrapped up for the Cotto bout as well.

Cotto is favored at -205 in New York, where he gets a lot of love from the Puerto Rican community, while the Mexican Margarito comes in at +165, and we’re going with the favorite to exact some revenge. Cotto has been waiting for this rematch for a while now, and you can bet he’ll prove to be the better man on December 3rd. Take Miguel Cotto in your favorite betting websites.
