Boxing Betting – What Type Of Punches Are They Throwing In The Ring?

WWE fans may be interested in following the sweet science, better known as boxing, but some people still think the fighters are just throwing bombs with no rhyme or reason. There are essentially four punches that all boxers throw, and here is a brief synopsis.

Jab – The jab is known as a punch that sets up other punches, and most players that buy price per head software know that a defensive fighter like Floyd Mayweather will use his jab a lot to keep his opponent off balance. It’s usually just a quick, straight punch with the lead hand while a fighter has his hands up. It is used to find a fighter’s punching range and it can wear down the opposition.

Cross – A cross comes from the rear hand and has much more power than a jab, although it is also a straight punch. It’s called a cross because it crosses the body to the target, and it is a part of the one-two combo with the jab.

Hook – A hook is thrown with the lead hand, and it is sort of a semi-circular punch that can create a lot of power. The lead hand is also brought back into the guard so it also provides protection.

Uppercut – The uppercut is thrown with the rear hand, and instead of going horizontal like the first three punches, this comes at the opposition vertically, usually from below the level of the chest and then up through the chin.

If you know what fighters like to use what punches, it will make your decision a lot easier when betting at sportsbooks.
