Toronto Blue Jays don’t have to worry about a judge having to appoint a score to their game, although you could argue that an umpire is similar to a judge. However, they don’t have the effect on an outcome that judges do in boxing, and here is how they should be scoring the matches that they watch.
It’s actually quite simple: if a boxer a round of a boxing match by outboxing your opponent, via landing more punches, avoiding more strikes and generally being more active, that boxer will receive a score of 10/10 (although it isn’t necessarily a perfect round). The other fighter will receive a 9, but it’ll go down to an 8 if he is knocked down or commits a foul (Superbowl betting players should compare this to penalties). For each of these occurrences, a point will be deducted from that boxer.
There are five possible outcomes for a boxing match when it comes to decisions (a KO or TKO takes it out of the judges’ hands):
Unanimous Decision: One boxer wins due to having more points among the three judges
Majority Decision: One boxer wins due to having more points with two judges, while the other rules it a draw.
Split Decision: One boxer wins due to having two judges score the fight for him, while the other rules for his opponent
Unanimous Draw: Both boxers have the same score among all three judges
Majority Draw: If two judges score the fight as a draw, and the other sides with either fighter
Knowing how judges are supposed to score fights can have a real effect on how you make your picks at sports betting websites. |

WWE fans may be interested in following the sweet science, better known as boxing, but some people still think the fighters are just throwing bombs with no rhyme or reason. There are essentially four punches that all boxers throw, and here is a brief synopsis.
Jab – The jab is known as a punch that sets up other punches, and most players that buy price per head software know that a defensive fighter like Floyd Mayweather will use his jab a lot to keep his opponent off balance. It’s usually just a quick, straight punch with the lead hand while a fighter has his hands up. It is used to find a fighter’s punching range and it can wear down the opposition.
Cross – A cross comes from the rear hand and has much more power than a jab, although it is also a straight punch. It’s called a cross because it crosses the body to the target, and it is a part of the one-two combo with the jab.
Hook – A hook is thrown with the lead hand, and it is sort of a semi-circular punch that can create a lot of power. The lead hand is also brought back into the guard so it also provides protection.
Uppercut – The uppercut is thrown with the rear hand, and instead of going horizontal like the first three punches, this comes at the opposition vertically, usually from below the level of the chest and then up through the chin.
If you know what fighters like to use what punches, it will make your decision a lot easier when betting at sportsbooks.

WWE Raw would be lucky to have Floyd Mayweather Jr. on their telecast (he has already worked with the WWE in the past) due to his ability to promote and talk trash, but when it comes to boxing, he doesn’t play games with a 42-0 record and 26 KOs. He currently holds the WBC welterweight belt and has the MGM Grand booked for May 5th (Cinco de Mayo). Who should Mayweather face?
Manny Pacquiao
This is a no-brainer, but the Pacquiao camp won’t be so quick to sign after a horrible performance against rival Juan Manuel Marquez in a highly controversial victory that frankly, he didn’t deserve. Those who use price per head services won’t be so quick to back Pacquiao in his next fight, which may be a fourth tilt with Marquez.
Victor Ortiz/Andre Berto winner
Ortiz made a rookie mistake in his fight with Mayweather, as he headbutted his opponent, touched gloves and went for another hug (and possibly a kiss). Mayweather promptly dropped Ortiz and took the WBC belt, and Ortiz would be sure to avoid a mistake like that again. The truth is, he was losing the fight when it was stopped in the fourth round anyway. Berto lost the WBC belt to Ortiz and the two will end up fighting at some point, with the winner getting a shot at Mayweather (or Pacquiao).
Miguel Cotto
Cotto recently avenged a loss against Antonio Margarito and could be looking for a big payday as his career winds down. Pacquiao destroyed Cotto, but the Puerto Rican may want to try his hand at Mayweather, who would be a huge online betting favorite in this fight.

Even fans of the WWE should check out some boxing every once in a while, and on December 17th, the final of the Super Six World Boxing Classic will be held with three belts on the line: The Ring, WBC and WBA Super world super middleweight titles. Who will come away with the gold, Andre Ward or Carl Froch?
Ward Froch Odds – December 17th, 10:00 PM ET
Ward (24-0, 13 KOs) is coming off a dominant performance over Arthur Abraham, and the WBA belt is his to defend and even though per head players would love to see more finishes, you can’t deny that Ward is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in all of boxing; he is extremely technical and fast and 27 years old, he could be heading into his prime.
Froch (28-1, 20 KOs), from England, is the WBC champion and his lone loss came to Mikkel Kessler, who took the WBC belt from him the first time, but he regained it with a win over Abraham. Froch has beaten some good fighters in his day and a win in this match would go a long way in putting the 34-year-old over in the United States in terms of marketing and promotion.
Ward is a -340 favorite, while Froch is dangerous at +270 and he’ll have to keep up with Ward, who seems to get better as the fight goes on and the longer it goes, the more Ward will dominate. Stick with the sports betting online favorite. |

Intertops betting players who follow boxing will be able to wager on a clash for the WBA Super and IBF Light Welterweight titles (140 pounds), as Amir Khan defends against Lamont Peterson in Washington, D.C.
Khan Peterson Odds – Saturday, December 10th
Khan (26-1, 18 KOs) has an impressive resume at 24 years old as he’s won Olympic silver already and he won the WBA crown at 22. Those at price per head services will tell you that Khan is very fast, he has a better chin than you think (which he proved in a war with Marcos Maidana) and he is starting to gain some traction in the United States as Khan is reaching his prime.
Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KOs) fought Victor Ortiz to a draw last December and then beat Victor Cayo to earn this shot, and while he isn’t as fast as Khan, he’s faster than most at 140 pounds. He is a tough customer who is very deliberate, and this will be the biggest fight of his career after his loss to Timothy Bradley, who is battling with Khan for the No.1 spot in this division. Peterson did well against Bradley, but still lost in a decision.
Khan is favored at -1100, while Peterson is rated at +700 and he has to find another gear to beat Khan, who has yet to find his best and there are fears that Peterson has maxed out at 27 years old. He’ll be competitive, but you have to take the champion, Amir Khan, at your best online sportsbook.
